La Millerighe – Raffia Bag Crochet Pattern – PDF

La Millerighe is a crochet pattern for a multicolour raffia bag, worked from a leather, hide or faux leather base of any shape and size. Row upon row of different colours, each worked in a different stitch — for a texture-rich result that is always unique and fully customisable. The bag in the photo is made with 9 colours.

The pattern uses both basic and decorative stitches — chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, slip stitch, star stitch and fan stitch — and is suited to those already familiar with crochet.

MATERIALS

• Multicolour raffia, 25 g skeins (1 skein per colour)
• Leather, hide or faux leather base (any shape and size)
• 4 mm crochet hook (+ a smaller one if the base holes are tight)
• Thin wire (~2–3 mm diameter)
• Handles or shoulder strap, rings / clasps, lining, scissors
